...gone to look for America

A diary of a thirty-day odyssey across America in May 2014, eschewing all interstate highways in favor of secondary roads through small towns and villages.

I'm writing to you from Lexington, Kentucky, where we are camped for the night (no, Diana, not in a truck stop...I promise we are in a hotel)  following the close of the Central Ohio Folk Festival, and what a festival it was! The best one ever for me! Our vendor table was moderately successful, with art and music books as well as a slew of cards being sold. It paid for our festival costs and then some.  But the best part was all the great people! I had such fun hanging out with Joni Sines of the group abNormal Sines--great lady and she teaches a great fingerpicking workshop. Of course seeing our buddy Sandi Vitek is always a treat. And what a great time with the Breakneck Allstars--Ed and Elaine Bray and Barb Withee. (They're from up our way.) They put on a great program. I love to listen to Ed's songs, stories, and poems about the hobo life. Fact: Ed and Elaine got married at a hobo convention in Britt Iowa! Here's Khrysso with the group...

So many great people...Mountain Marge Diamond from Elyria, did a great workshop on jamming. Scott Alarick, from Cambridge, Mass with his great book, Revival--I'm already loving it. This festival draws talent
from all over, and chairs Art and Sharon Mittenbergs made sure everything ran like clockwork, and did it with a smile.

Can you tell I had a great time?

Tennessee tomorrow...'night friends.
