...gone to look for America

A diary of a thirty-day odyssey across America in May 2014, eschewing all interstate highways in favor of secondary roads through small towns and villages.

The countdown begins...

Well, just a few more days until we hit the road! Khrysso and I have established a "staging area" for things we'll be taking with us, and we're finishing up the last of the endless details that need to be seen to before we leave. House sitter arranged...check. Tires rotated...check. Oil changed...check. The list seems to be unlimited. And somehow between now and falling into bed on Thursday night, I will have completed hundreds and hundreds more greeting cards to sell at the Folk Festival. Not putting any pressure on myself though.

The trip will begin on Friday, May 2nd as we head to the Central Ohio Folk Festival at Battelle-Darby Metro Park in Columbus. Read about it here:
http://www.columbusfolkmusicsociety.org/. We will have a vendor table offering music-themed greeting cards, music-themed art, CDs ala Khrysso, and music books for dulcimer players. Khrysso just completed un fantastique book of French folksongs under his Worldberry Jam label. It's called La Confiture Worldberry, and it's tres, tres cool!

Following the festival, the next few days itinerary will be something like...Lexington KY, Cookeville TN, Memphis, and then Eureka Springs Arkansas. I'm particularly excited about that stop...Eureka Springs bills itself as "The Quirkiest Town in America." Right up my alley! Beyond that...dunno...America awaits!

Well, somebody's having fun! A kindergartner asked me today if I am a "witch." I asked why he thought I was a witch? He said, "Your hair." A teacher said the kid thinks he's a vampire so it was probably a compliment. Maybe K. can take me to the next "coven" he might attend!!!! Keep safe and enjoy the continuing trip. MMS
